John2024-11-10 Fernando was an exceptional guide for us in Algarve. Everything you could ask for in a guide; great knowledge, very personable, and great service & communication. We could not have asked for a more enjoyable experience in large part to Fernando. Julie Jandernoa2024-11-05 We had a great ride with Claudio transporting us from Lisbon to the Algarve with a nice stop for lunch in Evora. We felt very safe and the van was clean and comfortable. Would happily book and ride with Claudio again if we return to Portugal! Mary Yoho2024-10-06 Cláudio Nunes was an exceptional driver and tour guide. He was always on time and very accommodating. He was always giving great sightseeing advice. Even when he wasn’t on the clock. His Mercedes was very comfortable and we always felt safe with his driving. He was also accessible at all times. Never having to wait for a reply. Very enjoyable. I would highly recommend his tour service. Ivor Karpel2024-10-01 Fernando picked us up in Lisbon and drove us to Lagos along the Vientiane Coast. An excellent day!!! The next day we were shown the area of Lagos by Claudio. Walked the town and then went on the boat to Ponte Piedade. Claudio booked us for a delicious lunch on the cliff at Ponte Piedade. We then went to see the Lighthouse and Castle at Sagres. Claudio explained the history with such passion. Clean cars are a must and are kept in great condition. Fernando took us to the Eastern Algarve visiting Faro Olhao and Tovira on the way there. After lots of viewing and sightseeing we returned to Lagos via Albufiera,Sines and the boardwalk at Carvoeira. A fantastic day. Ended the vacation being driven back to Lisbon on Monday. I can't recommend Rayamel highly enough. Tony Frasca2024-09-01 We cannot say enough wonderful things about Claudio and our time in Algarve. We, a party of four, would definitely recommend his service. Thank you Claudio. Celeste Dempsey2024-06-13 upon arrival at the train station we were warmly welcomed by Rayamel Travel.. He spoke English fluently asked us about our trip so far and then explained the area. The tour company will not disappoint. He was very knowledgeable gave us historical and culture information and was more than happy to answer our questions. What we feel was extremely impressive is our last night he picked us up and took us to this fabulous restaurant right by the ocean where we celebrated our Anniversary. After we were finished we contacted him and he picked us up and brought us back to our hotel... Jodi Beller2024-06-13 Excellent and friendly service. Only ground transportation company you will need! The most traditional and oldest neighbourhood of Lisboa composed of a maze of narrow streets, tortuous alleys and steep flights of stairs. It’s the birthplace of ‘Fado’, a traditional song of Lisbon, wish UNESCO classifies as World Cultural Heritage. Alfama is known internationally for its Fado Houses and the Popular Saints’ Festival held in Lisbon throughout June.
The main area of interest is Praça do Comércio, one of the largest squares in Europe, and for many centuries, the main entrance of the city of Lisboa. With a marvellous view of the Tagus River, it extends to the unmissable Cais das Colunas. This square is full of terraces and restaurants where you can enjoy the landscape and Lisboa’s pace. To get to the city center, you must go through the Arc de Triomphe and walk along Augusta street.
Considered the ‘Heart’ of Lisboa. The Baixa neighbourhood was reconstructed after the massive earthquake of 1755 with neoclassical-style buildings and innovative anti-seismic structures. Its streets are covered in Portuguese pavement, a traditional-style pavement made with small flat pieces of stones arranged in a pattern or image, like a mosaic.
Chiado was refurbished as a project of the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, after a great fire in 1988. It became the place of choice for many intellectuals and artists of the new generation. Chiado has an eclectic mix between contemporary and traditional shops, but also a strong historical and cultural component.
The most picturesque districts of Lisboa where the coexistence of older and younger people originated a peculiar atmosphere. This is reflected in the local businesses: you will find small shops, designers’ ateliers and tattoos and piercings parlors. Bairro Alto is also famous for its many restaurants, bars, and nightlife. Have fun on the night of Lisboa!
Belém is the launching point for the Portuguese discoveries, with significant historic monuments in a beautiful open riverside setting. Here you can visit the Belem Tower, the Discoveries Monument, visit the church of the Jerónimos Monastery and taste the world-famous “Pastel de Belém”.
